Y-3 is an ongoing collaboration between Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas. The Y stands for the Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto and the 3 represents the famous striped branding by adidas. The "-" represents the link between the two brands.
The brand debuted its first collection at the New York Fashion Week in 2005 and has been a striving success ever since. A large part of their success is their effortless blend of adidas' sports functionality and Yohji's signature style, combining the best of both worlds into one great collaborative effort.
Due to the rising popularity of the link between fashion and sportswear, athleticism has become part of the creative dialogue for many high-fashion brands in the industry. However, it is without a doubt that Y-3 was one of the earliest pioneers to introduce functional athletic fashion to the runways.
The Fall/Winter collection takes inspiration from the skies and pays tribute to the early pioneers of aviation. First debuting during a show in Paris in January 2015, this collection is surrounded by strong outerwear pieces, functional sportswear, and eye-catching accessories. This collection creates a new horizon for future tech just as well as it encompasses old world aviation wear.

Some of the more notable pieces of this collection are the outerwear options and matching bottoms. A staple piece from this collection include the Y-3 Wool Flight Jacket and the Y-3 Sherpa Track Pant (see above picture). The Wool jacket is a harmonic fusion of functionality and style. It features a bonded three-layer fabric that is versatile due to it's different materials. The sneakers featured in the above look are the Y-3 Qasa High-Tops.
Above you can see the Y-3 Flight Jacket, paired with the Y-3 Camou Track Jacket. The camouflage is a play off of the popular aviation and military print. The Y-3 Flight Jacket features reverse flap pockets, bellow pockets, and epaulet detailing on the shoulders.
Pictured above is the Y-3 Jet Pant with the Y-3 Future Sports Bomber. The bomber represents future tech. The fabrication is a double layer of PES/Wool and features multiple pockets, matching ribs, and the classic Y-3 logo. The Jet Pant is a flight inspired silhouette with a modernized elastic waistband and belt loops with and athletic rib cuffs at the bottom. It also sports a unique asymmetric front pocket. In terms of footwear, the model is wearing a pair of the luxurious Y-3 Held Enforcer sneakers.

We picked up several new styles of footwear as well including the three pairs pictured above. The first on the very left is the Y-3 Held Enforcer. The silhouette for this sneaker was taken from the 1996 adidas court shoe. The Enforcer combines several textural materials to create a luxurious sneaker. The second shoe is the new Y-3 Kohna. This unique looking sneaker features a futuristic silhouette and a very comfortable stretch neoprene sock lining and a flexible moulded midsole. The third sneaker is the Y-3 Laver Slip On. This classic slip-on shoe features suede and leather materials to create a clean, monochromatic sneaker.
