Attending a New Years party this year? Not too sure what to wear? Don't sweat it, Boys'Co has some tips for you to really stand out at your New Years Eve party. Most commonly this is the time of year when guys dress up in suits, ties, and dress shirts, however there are a couple items that you can add to your outfit to really make an impression at your get together. New Years parties give you an opportunity to utilize those colourful pieces and prints that you have laying in your wardrobe. Incorporating a suit and tie combination in standout colours and prints is a playful way to dress up for New Years Eve.
Layering isn't just limited to street style. A formal event (especially in the winter time) is the perfect opportunity to create a seamlessly sophisticated look with items such as a dress shirt, knit cardigan, and blazer. This look can be completed with a clean pair of denim and oxfords if you're at a casual event, or a pair of dress pants and dress shoes for a formal event. The denim can also be switched out for a clean pair of chinos. Take a look at our Scotch & Soda chinos, which we carry in several different colours.
Pictured below is the perfect example of a layered outfit. Sophisticated layering such as this is always a safe bet for New Years parties. Below we've compiled a couple items from our online store to replicate this look. We featured items from brands such as Naked & Famous, G-Star, and J Lindeberg.

This is going to be one of your staple pieces if you do decide to dress up. If you're going with a blazer there are a couple things to consider. First of all, make sure that the blazer is tailored to your proportions. It doesn't matter how nice the blazer is, if it doesn't fit you it wont look right. Next is to make sure that the colour of your blazer doesn't clash with other aspects of your outfit such as your dress shirt, tie/bowtie, and shoes. Solid coloured suits are usually good to match colourful and printed bowties with. However you might want to stay away from a patterned blazer with a patterned bowtie/tie which could result in too much noise in your outfit.
Thinking about wearing a tie to this years party? You may want to consider switching it out for a bow tie this time around. A bow tie can be a simple twist to your outfit which will definitely make you stand out. Pair your bowtie with some matching suspenders for even more of an impact. A well chosen bow tie can quickly become the centre piece of your outfit.
Suspenders are your bowties sidekick this season. Adding suspenders will give your outfit an old school vintage vibe which will definitely be noticed. Make sure to match it with your bowtie for the ultimate effect. Although we don't carry suspenders, we do have a selection of sweet bowties by Scotch & Soda.
Scotch and Soda Bowties
Skip the usual tie this year and go with something spiffier. Theres just something special about a nice outfit with a bowtie. It doesn't take away from the elegance and can add a splash of personality. Our selection of Scotch & Soda bowties come in four colourful prints which will definitely stand out (in a positive way) at your New Years Eve party. Click here to take a closer look.
Another major accessory to consider this season is a nice watch to match your outfit. There are basically three main options when it comes to suiting up with a watch. You can either go with a black or brown leather strap (matching depending on belt and shoe colour) or with a stainless steel strap. Leave the silicone and rubber straps at home as those are best for casual days. Here are a couple watch options that would work perfectly with any New Years outfit. Above we have three different timepieces from Hugo Boss, each of which would work with a different look. Click here to take a look at our full range of timepieces.
