To much anticipation, Y-3's FW18 collection was displayed at Paris' Grand Palais on Sunday to much fanfare, featuring a strong collection of apparel and footwear. Yohji Yamamoto and Nic Galway (vice president of Global Design at adidas) expressed their particular attention to balance in the collection, marrying footwear with apparel.
One of the surprises of the night, previously teased on James Harden's twitter page, was the announcement of a Y-3 x James Harden collaboration capsule featuring his iconic BYW BBall Sneaker Silhouette with a Boost mid-sole.
The collection featured Yohji Yamamoto's signature monochromatic hues with pops of "Frozen Yellow" and navy blue colors, rounded out with a new exclusive floral pattern. Y-3 continues to play with textures and loose free-moving silhouettes, with notable stretched/lengthened pieces in the collection. Another predominant silhouette featured tiered/layered looks via doubled up tees, multi-tier tops, and shorts/legging combos (a dominant trend on the men's streetwear scene). Chunky oversized scarves are back once more, heavily featured in black, white, and Frozen Yellow hues.
